Character Name: General Dru-Zod
Series: Man of Steel, which is the Snyder interpretation of the Superman story
Age: chronologically something like 60? Maybe? But per comic book usual a ridiculously well-preserved 60, so functionally more like 35 or so.
From When?: his death, when Clark snaps his neck after he tries to kill a human family in the subway to get back at him for destroying the Kryptonian fetuses.

Inmate/Warden: INMATE. Zod is a very arrogant, incredibly prideful Kryptonian descended from a line of warriors who has spent his entire life in the military. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be an issue; lots of people are career military, and they're perfectly upstanding folks. Unfortunately, in Zod's case this presents a bit of a problem. He's dedicated his entire life to protecting Kyrpton and its people, to the point where he staged a coup and threatened to kill the entire Science Council because he believed it was the best option to save them all. Since then he's tried to orchestrate the genocide of an entire planet and waged a one man vendetta against the entire human race because he doesn't know how to function in a universe where his people and planet no longer exist. He tends to approach the world with a shoot first, ask questions later approach, leaving little room for taking other perspectives into account; he's firmly convinced he knows the right course of action and is utterly incapable of accepting an alternative without throwing a tantrum and being forced into it. Case in point; he had to be thrown into effectively a black hole to keep from trying to get Jor-El's son back, even though sending their last hope to literally anywhere else was clearly the best shot they had at survival with the timetable they had left. Suffice to say standing back and letting other people do the thinking isn't his strong point even if his ideas are really not the best.

Abilities/Powers: Zod's skill set is about on par with Superman's, considering he's of the same stock, so therefore yellow suns on Earth-sized planets give him all the same advantages; faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, can leap tall buildings in a single bound, etc. He's also got x-ray vision, heat vision, super hearing, and invulnerability. Main weaknesses include all varieties of Kryptonite, which revert him solidly to human levels of function in a very dramatic and sudden way that tends to incapacitate in addition to whatever other fun side effects the different varieties have, and Earth levels of oxygen will probably trip him up for a little while too until his body learns to compensate.

As was touched on in the movie, these extra abilities aren't really normal for the race, it's only once they're exposed to the sun and gravity fields on Earth that they come into play; Krypton is much denser than Earth, so they're significantly stronger on a less dense planet because the forces acting on them are much weaker in comparison. It allows them to be stronger, faster, and to fly, more or less. Absorbing the radiation of Earth's sun grants them the rest of it, but as was demonstrated in the movie, it isn't easy on the other Kryptonians. It takes control and focus to be able to master the rest of these abilities, and until that point it's more likely to be a distraction and a weakness in itself; the initial expression of these abilities in Zod's party was enough to incapacitate them for several minutes on multiple occasions. Zod had demonstrated some rudimentary mastery by the time of his death, at least of heatvision (and really it's difficult to say if it wasn't just happy coincidence), but it's unlikely he's anywhere near as honed in them at this point as Clark would be, no matter how disciplined he is.

That being said, for fairly obvious reasons he won't have access to heatvision or x-ray vision anyway, at least not without a Warden request. His strength and speed will also be dampened down to within normal human levels, if towards the higher side, and his durability will be reduced as well, although only enough so that he could actually be harmed; it's likely he still wouldn't react much, but he won't be completely invulnerable either.

Personality: [Please write at least 5 solid paragraphs. The more depth and detail, the better! Keep in mind that other players will use this section to determine if your character is a good match for potential Warden/Inmate pairings, and this may be their first exposure to your character.

Barge Reactions: You need to include how they are going to react to the Barge, possibly addressing the other character types, genres, and fandoms they'll be encountering or how they may react to floods or breaches. If the character has stayed on the Barge before, what effect did it have on them?

Please write this in complete sentences, and in paragraphs as you would in any normal area of the application. Do not divide into sections and label each with adjectives. This makes it seem choppy and harder to read.]

Path to Redemption: Being part of a society where individuals are created in a lab, specifically engineered to serve a very specific function in society, Zod has been stuck since birth. He was created to be a soldier, and consequently it's the only life he's known and the only way he's ever had to operate. Yes, he's risen through the ranks and up until he was thrown in the Phantom Zone for organizing a military coup and murdering Jor-El he had a pretty significant rank, one that came with its own degree of autonomy, but he is still at his heart a soldier. A man more accustomed to thinking in terms of battle tactics and taking orders and operating for the Good of Krypton than sitting down and contemplating whether what he does is truly Right from a moral perspective; it was his job to be Krypton's protector above all, after all, and it was in the commission of this duty that he met his original downfall. But in order for him to move on in life he needs to learn that it doesn't need to be the only thing that defines him. Jor-El rose above what he was grown to be, it's not impossible, and Zod needs to learn this for himself. He needs to learn to let go of his Duty and move on with his life, to learn how to function in the universe as his own distinct entity, separate from Krypton, and to be able to forgive Jor and Kal for their part in things, or better yet accept his own fault.
